Pumpsie Green is best known for being the first African-American to play for the Boston Red Sox, the last Major League team to integrate. He played for five seasons in the big leagues as a utility infielder, and finished his career with the New York Mets in 1963.
Green signed this card, another from the 1991 Wiz Mets stadium giveaway set, for a $5 donation.
Wow, that’s pretty awesome!

Pumpsie was my favorite ballplayer on the 1958 Minnapolis Millers. I never knew at the time that there had been a color barried in baseball. Until Bombo Rivera played here twenty years later, the best name ever in Minnesota baseball history was Pumpsie Green. Hey! It still is.
