When I saw Baseball Digest’s report about the Richmond Flying Squirrels’ new mascot, I thought it was an April Fool’s joke.
The Richmond Flying Squirrels (Class AA; Eastern League) unveiled their new acorn-inspired mascot Zinger, as the inflatable acorn will join the face of the franchise, Nutzy, in all aspects of fan entertainment and community involvement going forward.
A quick trip to the Squirrels’ website proved that the new mascot is real.
I can’t quite decide if I think making someone dress up in an inflatable acorn suit is
- funny
- stupid or
- cruel & unusual punishment.
