The Lakewood BlueClaws, the Single-A South Atlantic League affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, will reach an attendance milestone sometime this season when the 5 millionth fan enters FirstEnergy Park. According to the team, the BlueClaws will reach the 5 million fan mark faster than any other baseball team in New Jersey or South Atlantic League history.

So it seems a bit odd to me that the BlueClaws are using eBay to sell a sponsorship opportunity for a contest related to the the 5 million fan milestone.

“We wanted to do something special in celebration of getting to 5-million fans and this is just one of several things we have in mind,” said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown in a team press release. “It’s a great opportunity for a local company to partner, receive extensive exposure, and be part of a one-of-a-kind program.”

With less than four days remaining, the auction has one bid and was at $2,500.
