The New York Mets will play their first game at the Miami Marlins new ballpark tonight.
Perhaps fittingly, I got a surprise package from my friend Greg yesterday containing a few things that he’d gotten signed during spring training this year.
A Miami Marlins spring training program signed by Hanley Ramirez, Logan Morrison, Heath Bell and John Buck…
… and baseballs signed by Ozzie Guillen and Jose Reyes.
Very cool, even though I’m hoping to see three Marlins losses this weekend.
Stats note #1: Jose Reyes is batting .233 with a .331 on-base percentage through 30 games. He has nine extra-base hits (zero home runs) and is 8-for-12 in stolen base attempts. And he’s already committed six errors.
Stats note #2: If the season ended today, the National League playoff teams would include the Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves… and the New York Mets.
