Derek Jeter returned to the New York Yankees today, leaving fans to celebrate his season debut (and worry about the state of his quad).
The Scranton-Wilkes Barre RailRiders will miss him, though.
Donnie Collins of the Scranton Times-Tribune writes:
During his nearly week-long stay in Scranton, Jeter became a man about town, eating dinners at steakhouses around the region, having a salad at State Street Grill in Clarks Summit, seafood at Cooper’s, lunch at the Downtown Deli and hitting Pittston for Italian food. He became a Starbucks regular at the Steamtown Mall, and he posed for pictures with fans at just about every stop.
Commenting on a map published by the newspaper marking all the city’s Jeter sightings, USA Today’s Ted Berg writes, “[Jeter]’s like a baseball-playing Sasquatch, except with a brighter smile and perhaps less range.”
We’ve seen Alex Rodriguez as a centaur… somebody needs to give us Derek Jeter: Sasquatch.
