Baseball is back

Major League Baseball returned to (exhibition) game action yesterday, and I watched my first full* game since the St. Louis Cardinals eliminated the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League Division Series last October.

I usually don’t keep a scorecard during random spring training games, but I did yesterday because I’ve been a bit under the weather – I figured I could use something to help me focus. (I’m sure there are a few errors because of this, but I’m going to post it anyway.)

Two things stood out during MLB Network’s broadcast of yesterday’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays:

  • Jose Reyes really looked better without that “mountain man” beard he’s sporting.
  • The idea of Bobby Abreu playing in a game called by Jamie Moyer and Matt Stairs was just a little too bizarre to process.
