Opening Day is less than one week away. In my lifetime, Doc Gooden made more Opening Day starts for the Mets (eight) than any other pitcher. He went 6-1, and the Mets were 7-1 in those games.
The baseball card pictured above is one of 100 mini-card inserts included in Topps Series 1 & 2 last year that showcase current and retired stars on a design inspired by the 1972 Topps set.
While I love the baseball card, seeing a photo from 1986 on a design from 1972 in a 2013 product makes my head hurt if I think about it too long.
