How sad is this?
The Yogi Berra Museum on the campus of Montclair State University was the victim of thieves this week. According to a report by the New York Post, several of Berra’s World Series rings, two of his MVP plaques and the glove Berra used to catch Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series.
The pathetic part – while those items are valuable both to Berra and as pieces of baseball history, they will be nearly worthless to whoever took them. How do you sell unique items that everybody knows were stolen? And if they were taken by a baseball “fan” who wanted them as part of his or her personal collection, what’s the point? It’s not as if you would ever be able to show them off.
