Well, we’ve gotten through the Super Bowl hype, the Blizzard of 2015 (not very difficult in New Jersey, since it managed to miss us) and even a non-controversy caused by new Commissioner Rob Manfred‘s comment on the infield shift.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for spring weather and baseball games.
For the last couple of years, Topps has done a promotion where collectors could receive a bonus five-card pack from participating dealers that featured cards from an exclusive 50-card “Spring Fever” insert set and a chance at pulling an autographed card.
With no participating hobby shops in my area and no Mets on the checklist, I didn’t pay much attention last year. Apparently Topps made a bit of a mess out of what should have been a fun thing for collectors and a good way to help dealers move more product.
But I did eventually pick up the Jose Reyes card from the 2014 Spring Fever set.
This year’s Spring Fever promotion should be easier to take part in, as long as you have a participating hobby dealer in your area. You just need to buy $20 worth of Topps products starting Wednesday.
I’ll still be looking for any Spring Fever cards that I actually want from eBay sellers or other online marketplaces.
