Now that I’ve had a chance to spend a day or so muttering “dumbass” to myself, I have to admit that I’m starting to wonder if there’s any way Mejia can be telling the truth. Is it possible that he did this unknowingly? Did he trust a trainer who gave him “vitamins”? Has somebody been spiking Jenrry’s smoothies with boldenone?
I’m not trying to defend Mejia here, and I understand that the buck stops with the athlete… I’m just trying to understand how anyone could be so foolish as to take an easily-detectable steroid enough to get caught three times.

I really want to know why too. Once, maybe you really did take something without realizing it was illegal. But wouldn’t you be extra super careful after that first suspension? And especially after the second one?
If it were my chance at earning millions on the line, I wouldn’t even take an aspirin without getting an ok first.
