
Ken Boswell split time with Al Weis as the second baseman for the 1969 Miracle Mets.
When the Mets went into first place for what I believe was the first time in team history on Sept. 10, 1969, Boswell got the game winning hit. In the first-ever NLCS series, Boswell hit two home runs — nearly matching his regular season total — and drove in five runs to help the Mets defeat the Braves. Thanks to pitching matchups, he only played in one World Series game that year.
Boswell had a very respectable 11-year career in the majors, spending eight seasons in New York. He finished with a lifetime .248 batting average, 31 home runs and 244 RBIs. I’m not quite sure that qualifies Boswell as a legend, but Upper Deck seemed to think it was good enough.
