Winding down

Fall is in the air. For some fans, that means it’s time to get excited about postseason baseball. For others, it just means it’s almost time for the last game of the year.

There’s still time to catch a few more games before it’s all over, and I’m taking advantage of that opportunity.

Sunday, I was in Camden to see the Somerset Patriots defeat the Riversharks 4-1 and move closer to clinching the second half Liberty Division title. (The Patriots already won the first half title & are in the playoffs.) You can see more of my photos on Flickr.

Tonight, I will be making what will probably be my final visit to Citi Field in 2014. Depending on what happens with the team and in my own life, who knows how much I will be back there in 2015?

I’d like to see Jacob deGrom get another win.

A quick trip to Camden

Saturday, I saw Guardians of the Galaxy with a friend and then we traveled on to Camden to watch the Somerset Patriots play the Camden Riversharks. If you didn’t catch the film this weekend, you’re missing out on one of the best movies of the summer.

I also recommend going to a baseball game in Camden if you have the opportunity. While the city does not have the best reputation, Campbell’s Field is in a safe area near tourist attractions like Adventure Aquarium (formerly the New Jersey State Aquarium) and the Battleship New Jersey Museum as well as the Rutgers-Camden campus.

Valentino Pascucci’s signature is the latest addition to my Mets autograph collection. I believe I’m just missing 92 players now.

Pascucci is playing for the Camden Riversharks in the independent Atlantic League this year.

Val Pascucci update

A few of you might remember that I was hoping to see former Met Val Pascucci  play for the Camden Riversharks this season when the team announced signing him back in February.

Well, that’s not going to happen – at least right away. I had considered going to watch the Riversharks play a spring training game against the Somerset Patriots today, but I decided to skip it when I saw that he wasn’t listed on the roster.

It turns out that Pascucci is playing for the Broncos de Reynosa in the Mexican League, where he is batting .200 (13-for-65) with 6 home runs and 16 RBI through 19 games.
