Newark Bears holiday toy drive video

‘Tis the season, so here’s more from the Newark Bears Toy Drive – this time, via the team’s YouTube account.

Davis signed by Blue Jays

In other Can-Am League news, the Toronto Blue Jays purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Tony Davis from the Quebec Capitales today. He went 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA in 20 regular-season relief appearances, striking out 16 in 17 innings pitched. Originally selected in the 12th round of the 2009 draft by the Minnesota Twins, Davis made it as far as Double-A in affiliated baseball.

“The Blue Jays needed some more lefthanded relievers in their organization, and had shown a lot of interest in Tony Davis,” Capitales manager Patrick Scalabrini said in a Can-Am League press release. “He definitely has a chance to climb the ladder quickly.”

Earlier this off-season, Quebec sold the contract of right-handed pitcher Chris Cox to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and the Newark Bears sold the contract of right-handed pitcher Omar Javier to the San Francisco Giants organization.

2013 schedule?

There’s a schedule posted on the league website. The calendar headings still say 2012, but Trois-Rivieres is there and Worcester is not so I assume it’s for 2013. You’d think the league and its teams would make a formal announcement…
