I’m cheating a bit this week to feature two baseball cards of New York Mets prospects. And I’m pretty sure I got my set of 2015 New York-Penn League Top Prospects at a Staten Island Yankees game I went to in September with my friend Greg.
But let’s talk about our two Brooklyn Cyclones players.
Alfonzo, a member of the New York Mets’ playoff teams in 1999 and 2000, will be coaching in Brooklyn for a third straight year.
Ratliff, a 4th round draft pick in 2008, was forced to give up his playing career as the result of injuries sustained when he was struck in the face by a foul ball in a 2011 spring training game. He served as the hitting coach for the Rookie-level Kingspoort Mets in 2015.
Third baseman Eudor Garcia, a 2014 fourth round draft pick who played for the Single-A Savannah Sand Gnats last season, has been suspended for 80 games following a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs.
