Brett Myers leads Phillies to a 2-0 lead

New Philadelphia slugging star Brett Myers led the Phillies to a 2-0 series lead as the NLCS heads out to L.A. this weekend.

Myers may not have pitched as well against the Dodgers as he did in his NLDS start last week, but he’s clearly trying to be a 21st century Babe Ruth. ๐Ÿ™‚ ย His line today: a perfect 3-for-3, with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Go Phillies!

Cole Hamelsย Chase Utley

It feels strange to be rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies, particularly in a year where they knocked my team out of first place in the final week of the season.

On the other hand, the thought of rooting for Joe Torre’s Dodgers doesn’t exactly appeal much either. Torre may be a wonderful guy — but he’s too closely associated with the evil empire for me forgive and forget.

One other thing in the Phillies’ favor – my dad grew up in Pennsylvania and is still a big Phillies fan. So if they win, it would make him happy. And that’s really all the reason I need (at least in a year when my team is out of it… again.)

So the Phillies took game one behind solid pitching from Cole Hamels and home runs from Chase Utley and Pat Burrell… only three more wins and they get to play in their first World Series since 1993.
