The 2015 Queens Baseball Convention will take place on Saturday, January 10th, next year at McFadden’s Citi Field, according to the announcement posted at today.

A mid-winter gathering of fans of baseball, held in Queens. Our design is a combination of “Fan Fest” meets “Comic Con.”

The spirit of the day is for the fans to get together, celebrate baseball in Queens, and to bring the kiddies and bring the wife.

Events will range from appearances by players, panels, trivia, mascot appearances…and a whole lot more.

Tickets are $35, and for an extra $10 you can get the t-shirt.

I missed this year’s event, though I heard nothing but good things from those who attended. Hopefully I will be able to make it next year.

Tickets are on sale at

Queens Baseball Convention, rescheduled 1986 Mets autograph show highlight January calendar

calendar1986 Mets Reunion Autograph Show

This weekend’s snow/ice storm postponed MAB Celebrity Services’ 1986 Mets Reunion autograph show, but it’s been rescheduled for Sunday, January 12 at the Hilton Hasbrouck Heights-Meadowlands.

So far, 18 former players and coaches have confirmed for the rescheduled date, including Keith Hernandez, Dwight Gooden, Mookie Wilson, Ray Knight and Jesse Orosco. Admission is $10, and autograph fees range from $20-$49 per player. For more information, visit MAB Celebrity Services’ website.

Pinstripe Perfection

MAB Celebrity Services will finish the month with its traditional Yankees autograph show on January 25th & 26th at the  Hilton Hasbrouck Heights-Meadowlands. This year’s theme is celebrating the 15th anniversary of David Cone‘s perfect game and the 1999 World Series championship team.

Oddly enough, Cone is not currently listed among the guests, however, several notable (and not-so-notable) former Mets players are: Dwight Gooden ($35), Lee Mazzilli ($29), Daryl Boston (1 free, additional $10), John Candelaria ($20), Gary Sheffield ($50), Shane Spencer ($25), and Ralph Terry ($30). Actual (former) Mets scheduled to attend Queens Baseball Convention

The inaugural Queens Baseball Convention got more interesting on Monday, when Shannon Shark announced that two World Series champion New York Mets are scheduled to attend.

Ron Darling and Ed Kranepool will each participate in a question & answer session and sign autographs at the January 18, 2014 event. The autograph cost is included in the admission price, but due to time limits, not everyone is guaranteed to receive an autograph.

While I’m not currently planning to go to the Queens Baseball Convention, any of my friends are welcome to talk me into going with them.

The next two weeks are probably the swan song for this blog. The domain renewal is coming up, and I don’t really feel the same enthusiasm for baseball that I did when I began.

I could still change my mind, but I’m having a hard time imagining what I might find to say about the 2014 Mets that anyone would want to read and other commitments will keep me from going to more than a handful of minor league games next season.

I do want to thank everyone who stops by to read Random Baseball Stuff, and I appreciate the friends I’ve made because of this blog.
