MetsBlog: The Deadline is About Prospects, not Money

The big-time trades that have been going down this summer have not been about money, they have been about prospects.

So, whether or not the Mets are ‘broke,’ or being ‘cheap,’ as people keep saying on WFAN, is irrelevant….

I get the feeling the Mets are, in some ways, ‘rebuilding,’ by basically letting the clock run out on old contracts, while not trading away the next generation of players who they can eventually build around with a new crop of free agents.
